Audie Murphy American Cotton Museum

Nestled among ten acres of land in the heart of Hunt County, Texas, the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum has explored the rich and fascinating history of this region for over 20 years. Join us on a journey of discovery that will take you through the heyday of the cotton fields in the 1800’s to the battlefields of the 20th Century. They provide guided tours or you can choose to view the museum on a self-guided tour. Guided tours are available for groups of 10 or more by advance appointment. They have both a military exhibit and a cotton exhibit. All ages are welcome.

The mission of the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum is to educate the public and to preserve the history of Hunt County, Texas. Of particular emphasis is the impact of the cotton industry and the historical significance of their military heroes, especially Audie Murphy. The military Hall of Heroes, covering approximately 3,700 sq. ft., opened in the spring of 2010. Walk through a WWI trench and meander through the armory of antique guns on display. Stroll among the extensive exhibits on WWII and learn about the regional and national heroes that came from our very own small Texas county… Audie Murphy, Claire Chennault of the Flying Tigers, Dean Hallmark and Nolan Herndon of the Doolittle Raiders just to name a few.
